Having performed at the age of nine in front of her first audience of about 250 people this amateur turn professional found great joy in pleasing her audiences with her gift of song. Daughter of a Methodist minister and church musician Selinza has always had a life surrounded by music.
After high school she found her other gift of nursing, while fine honing her skill as a nurse specializing in Oncology and Medical Surgical nursing she embraced the art of interweaving the two “Music and Medicine.”
Selinza has enjoyed 27 years professionally entertaining, starting out as a solo vocalist then joining a Blues band “The Larch” with whom she enjoyed the constant excitement of booking after booking. It was believed that they had that special something that caused them to be so popular and in demand
After a number of years with the Larch Ms. Mitchell took out on her own again making new music and finding her place in Jazz, and she calls Jazz home.
As the list of talents continues to grow and words find their way to melodies Selinza says “Our lives can be the most inspirational tools you can imagine.”
Having now become the writer, vocalist, producer, arranger, project director, executive producer, ok…One Woman Show, she committed to both the music and the medicine. And allow them to complement one another. And for the last 25 years her music and medicine have danced their way into the hearts of her great following. Ms Mitchell titles her music “Music is Medicine for the Soul.”
“I do so enjoy my blessings, my gifts, my talents because they are my passions, and they bring me so much pleasure which I have shared in three European tours, National tours / performances and four CD productions, I categorize my music as Inspirational Jazz because I believe that music can have a very healing, calming, soothing, effect on our soul, I use my music as my gift to the world to inspire, encourage, lift up the hearts that receive it.”

IS DEDICATED TO ALL THE LIVES AFFECTED BY CANCER
The idea for this project is a result of Selinza’s observation; picture a line of children at the mall, just to see Santa, as each child stands restless in line waiting their turn to sit on Santa’s knee and reveal to him “that’s what I want for Christmas.”
Well as one child waits,
right at Santa’s candy gate,
Then walks forward,
to climb up on his knee and say
There is no toy or game or such
That I wish for Christmas day
Someone I love is sick you see,
and they may pass away,
So here’s my wish for Christmas,
it will come true I pray
I want A Cure for Christmas©,
so that in my life they will stay.
Stay tuned as we will announce the beneficiary of proceeds from this cherished Live recording performance.
